About Deck Builders Knoxville TN — Who We Are and How We Work

We are a licensed Tennessee deck contractor based in the Knoxville area, building custom decks and repairing existing structures throughout Knox County and the surrounding East Tennessee counties. We’ve worked on sloped lots in Farragut, lakefront properties in Loudon County, vacation rental decks in Sevierville, and standard residential builds in neighborhoods across North Knox, West Knox, and South Knoxville.

Every job is different. But the process is the same on every one of them.

How We Operate

We start with a site visit. We don’t quote decks over the phone — especially not in Knox County, where the terrain, soil, and slope vary enough between properties that a phone quote is a ballpark at best. We come out, look at the lot, talk through what you want, and give you a written estimate within 48–72 hours with material specs by product name, structural approach, cost breakdown, and a proposed start date.

We pull the Knox County permit on every job. We never start site work until the permit is in hand. We schedule and attend framing and final inspections. We hand you the permit card and all material warranties in writing before we leave the completed job.

We don’t start demolition of any existing deck until all framing materials for the new one are staged on site. You won’t have a period where the old deck is gone and you’re waiting for materials that haven’t shown up yet.

Three Things We Don’t Compromise On

The permit always gets pulled. There is no job where we skip the permit to start faster or avoid inspection. Not one. A deck without a permit has no documentation that it was built to code, and it can create problems at sale, with insurance, and with liability if something goes wrong. We pull the permit on everything.

We don’t start demo until materials are staged. The limbo period — old deck gone, new materials not yet on site — is where homeowners end up frustrated. We don’t do that to people. Framing is on site before the old structure comes down.

We give you a straight answer on repair vs. replace. When we come out for a repair inspection and the deck is genuinely fixable, we tell you that. We’re not trying to sell you a $30,000 rebuild when a $3,000 board replacement is what the deck actually needs. And when the deck can’t be repaired responsibly, we tell you that too.

We’ve pulled permits with Knox County Codes Administration, the Town of Farragut, Blount County, Anderson County, Loudon County, and Sevier County.
